You may be asked to complete a writing exercise as part of your interview process.
If required, your recruiting team will let you know and you may receive an email from no-reply@mail.amazon.jobs requesting that you complete a writing sample. Please note that these emails can occasionally be misdirected to spam/junk folders.
The intent of the writing exercise is to demonstrate your clarity of thoughts and expression, as well as your organization and structure.
Written and verbal communication skills are critical for success at Amazon. Some people communicate better in writing, while others verbally, this is why we like to give the opportunity to showcase both. We ask that you craft a written response that is about one to two pages long (no more than 8,000 characters).
Other guidelines:
- Please clearly indicate the question you have selected at the top of your response.
- Please respond in narrative form and limit the use of bullets/outline form.
- Please type your response in rich text format (i.e., MS Word).
- Please do not include any confidential or proprietary information.
You can save your work and come back to complete the writing exercise. Please submit your final work no later than 2 days prior to your scheduled interview.
If you experience an error when opening the writing exercise link that has been sent to your email or do not receive such a link by the time your interviews are confirmed, please contact your Recruiting Coordinator directly and they will assist you. You can find their contact information on the Amazon Final interview invitation email you received. Please allow 2 business days (Monday - Friday) for a response.
You may or may not be directly asked further questions about your written exercise during your final interviews, so please prepare to answer those.
