Affinity groups emerged at Amazon in the late 1990’s as employees gathered around common identities, experiences and interests. Primarily organized by race, gender and sexual orientation, the groups focused on employees who aligned with communities traditionally underrepresented in Amazon’s leadership population. The group goals include attracting and retaining a diverse employee base, enhancing the feeling of inclusion through communication, recruitment, professional and community events, and providing access to personal and professional development opportunities.
The following are Amazon’s 13 affinity groups:
- Amazon People with Disabilities
- Amazon Women in Engineering
- Asians at Amazon
- Black Employee Network
- Body Positive Peers
- Families at Amazon
- Glamazon
- Indigenous at Amazon
- Latinos at Amazon
- Mental Health and Well-Being
- Warriors at Amazon
- Women at Amazon
- Women in Finance & Global Business Services (FGBS) Initiative (WiFi)
